The Combat Kenpo System

BASIC PRINCIPLES

The 13 Basic Principles that define the values and philosophies of the Combat Kenpo system.

DAILY WARM-UPS

The Daily Warm-Ups are skill builders – movements to build muscle memory for simple and effective offensive and defensive techniques. They are the vehicle to achieve success in your Combat Kenpo, and are used as the foundation for: self-defense, sparring, shadowboxing, drills, bag work, and health and fitness.

COMPONENTS OF SELF DEFENSE

The 6 key components essential to survive an altercation and successfully resolve a conflict.

COMBAT KENPO ESSENTIALS

The CK Essentials are all of the fundamental and foundational philosophies, or movements, that are not already listed under one of the other CK categories.

DAILY WARM-UP SERIES

The Daily Warm-Up series breaks down the 34 individual DWs to 10 named series to make them easier to memorize and practice. The 10 series are divided into 2 groups which are the “CK Series” and the “Dirty Dozen Series.”

The 10 Tools of Self Defense

A short term self-defense program, based on Combat Kenpo, where you learn the 10 essential self-defense tools that you will need in any threatening encounter. The program will heighten your environmental and situational awareness to prevent you from becoming a victim. It will empower you and help develop your survival and warrior attitude, as well as develop weapons to stop your attacker. “Nobody chooses to become a victim – but you can choose to fight back with realistic, simple and effective self-defense techniques.”  Professor Jefrie Dix

30 ELEMENTS

The 30 Elements are attributes that are necessary to be a successful fighter and martial artist. These elements are used to design the drills and build the skills in each student. Working individual elements is like working parts of the whole. When all of the elements are contained within the training program, the most well rounded and complete martial artist will be developed.

DRILLS

Specific training exercises that incorporate the Basic Principles, 30 Elements, specific principles of offensive and defensive movements, as well as martial exercise. These drills are simulations of real life self-defense and fighting situations that are meant to evoke the same physiological response and stress level as being in a real situation – without the danger of injury that can be associated with this high level of training. These drills teach students to react and respond under pressure and in stressful situations.
