It is the simplicity of a movement – not the complexity – that makes it effective.
Professor Jefrie Dix, 8th Degree Black Belt and founder of Combat Kenpo
In Combat Kenpo training – the ultimate goal is to have a good balance between Scholar and Warrior. As a Scholar we want to understand the principles of movement, the cause and effect. We strive to have the maximum knowledge and a thorough understanding of our art. As Warriors we need to condition and prepare our minds and bodies for battle. We need to develop and maintain a Warrior’s attitude and mind set. Think, plan, and prepare like a Scholar but train like a Warrior because ultimately we send Warriors into the battle not Scholars.
Welcome to combat kenpo
My focus in martial arts training is practical and effective self defense, contact fighting (for sport), and fitness through martial movements and drills. My goal is to continue learning, and continue growing as a practitioner and a teacher. Combat Kenpo is not a traditional martial arts style as I believe my safety should not be left in the hands of tradition.
